Education in Safety

1. All safety hats and helmets need to be located in the classroom in a reasonable location to be accessible by the teacher and/or students.
2. Students and teachers should be able to identify the location of the emergency kit (in case of evacuation). There will be an emergency kit in every classroom of the school.
3. In the event of emergency, students should refrain from talking so that everyone is able to clearly hear instructions from teachers. These instructions should be followed carefully during an emergency situation.
4. Safety instructions will be practiced and explained regularly throughout the school year

All students, staff and parents are expected to exercise responsibility when using UIA school facilities. Our policy stipulates that all personnel maintain caution, safety, and general good judgement while on school grounds. UIA Schoolβs property (i.e. physical resources, including buildings, furniture, furnishings, equipment and other facilities), is managed and maintained to provide:
- A healthy and safe environment for students and staff
- Adequate, appropriate and accessible physical resources to administer and deliver our curriculum
- An environment that supports and enhances teaching and learning to the highest standardsΒ
- Security of property outside of school hours
We would like to note that the use of school facilities and assets by others in the greater community may be permitted at the discretion of the Principal, so long as such actions do not compromise the needs and objectives of UIA school.
Should any school property or the facilities themselves incur damage or suffer theft, the school is within every right to pursue appropriate compensatory and even legal action. First and foremost, the appropriate Damage/Loss of School Property Incident Report form will be filled out by any staff involved. This completed form will be sent to management within 24 hours, who will then review the incident and provide a decision appropriate to the situation on a case-by-case basis
EMERGENCY DRILLS
A fire, earthquake, and lockdown drill is held on a rotating basis each month during different times of the school day. Upon hearing the alarm, students may evacuate the building and assemble in the allocated facility. Instructions and assembly points are clearly posted in school premises.
